To
the east, the A628 Woodhead pass to Barnsley and the M1 (North
- Leeds) and the A57 Snake Pass to Sheffield and M1 (South). To
the south the A624 to Buxton provides access to the White Peak.
To the west is the A57 to Manchester City centre and main western
motorway with the Manchester M60 orbital being just 7 miles away.
Access is shortly to be improved further following therecent announcement
to progress the Tintwistle bypass.

from a regular (every 20 minutes peak time) service to Manchester
Piccadilly (approx 40 minutes) and Glossop (approx 5 minutes).
